Great stickers start with a great file. The good news: you don’t need to be a designer to get it right. Our design preview handles the cut line and border for you, so all you really need is a clean, sharp image of your design.
Here’s everything to know before you upload, from file types to resolution to designing for chrome, holographic, and glitter.
The quick checklist
- ✅ File type: PNG, JPG, PDF, AI, or SVG
- ✅ Resolution: 300 DPI at the size you’re ordering (or a vector file)
- ✅ Background: transparent, if you can
- ✅ Text and thin lines: big and bold enough to read at your sticker size
- ✅ Specialty finishes: remember that white areas show the shine instead of printing white
Not sure your file checks every box? Request a manual proof when you order and we’ll look it over for you.
1. Choose the right file type
We accept PNG, JPG, PDF, AI, and SVG. They fall into two groups:
- Vector files (AI, SVG, and most PDFs from design software) are made of shapes instead of pixels, so they stay perfectly sharp at any size. If your logo was made by a designer, ask for the vector version — it’s the best file you can send.
- Image files (PNG and JPG) are made of pixels. They work great as long as they’re high enough resolution (see below). PNG is usually the better choice because it supports transparent backgrounds.
2. Get the resolution right
For image files, aim for 300 DPI at the size you’re ordering. In plain terms, that means your image should be at least 300 pixels wide for every inch of sticker:
| Sticker size | Minimum image size |
|---|---|
| 2" | 600 × 600 px |
| 3" | 900 × 900 px |
| 4" | 1200 × 1200 px |
| 6" | 1800 × 1800 px |
| 10" | 3000 × 3000 px |
Quick test: Zoom in on your design on screen. If it looks blurry or blocky, it will look blurry or blocky printed. Low-resolution files print as supplied, so always send the sharpest version you have.
Watch out for: screenshots, images saved from social media or messaging apps, and logos copied from websites. These are usually compressed and too small for printing.
3. Use a transparent background
A transparent background (PNG, SVG, or vector) lets us cut right around the shape of your design. If your image has a solid background, like a white box behind your logo, that box becomes part of the sticker.
No transparent version? No problem. Upload what you have and request a manual proof, and we’ll help sort it out.
4. Let the preview handle the cut line
You don’t need to draw a cut line or add bleed. After you upload, our design preview shows your sticker with its cut line automatically. You choose:
- Border thickness — how much space sits between your design and the edge of the sticker
- Border color — to frame your design
A border also makes stickers easier to peel and gives thin or spiky designs a sturdier shape. If your design has lots of tiny points or separate pieces, a thicker border keeps it all in one clean sticker.
5. Make text and details readable
What looks fine on a big screen can shrink to nothing on a 2" sticker. A few rules of thumb:
- Keep text bold and large enough to read at arm’s length on your final sticker size
- Avoid very thin lines and tiny details, especially on small stickers
- Leave a little breathing room between text and the edge of your design
- High contrast (dark on light or light on dark) reads best
Tip: Print your design on paper at actual size, or view it on screen at 100% of your sticker size, to see how it will really read.
6. Designing for chrome, holographic, and glitter
Specialty finishes get their shine from the material, not from ink, and we don’t print with white ink. So:
Any white or very light area in your design will show the chrome, rainbow, or sparkle instead of printing white.
Use this to your advantage:
- Make areas white on purpose where you want the finish to shine through
- Use bold colors and dark outlines for contrast
- Expect pastels and light greys to come out lighter, with more shine showing
- If you need solid white to print as white, choose vinyl stickers

7. About colors
Screens glow and printed stickers reflect light, so colors will always look a little different in person. Our Epson SureColor printer produces bold, consistent color, but very bright neons and some deep blues can shift slightly from what you see on screen. Small variations are normal for printed products.
When to request a manual proof
Our instant preview works great for most designs — approve it before checkout and we’ll print the same business day. But request a manual proof if:
- Your file is low resolution or has a background you want removed
- Your design has tiny details, thin text, or lots of separate pieces
- You’re ordering chrome, holographic, or glitter and want to know how it will look
- You just want a second set of eyes
Leave us a note, and you’ll receive your proof within 4–8 hours. We print as soon as you approve it.
